Custom tattoo & piercing.
Every piece at Rae Ink is designed from scratch for the person wearing it. Six tattoo disciplines, professional piercing, and a process built around getting it right — in our District 3 studio, Ho Chi Minh City.
Rae Ink is a custom tattoo and piercing studio in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Resident artist Hung Pop offers six tattoo styles — Japanese, realism black & grey, ornamental, blackwork, fine line, and Maori-inspired — plus professional piercing from 300,000 VND. All tattoo work is custom-designed, by appointment, with walk-ins welcome during open hours (daily 10am–8pm).
What tattoo styles do we offer?
Six disciplines, each with its own logic and rhythm. Hung draws on whichever the brief calls for. Every style is delivered as a fully custom piece — no flash, no copies.
Japanese (Irezumi)
Dragons · Hannya · Koi · Full sleeves & back pieces
Traditional Japanese tattooing built on Edo-period composition — subject, wind, water, story — layered over multiple sessions. The most involved discipline, suited to large-scale work that holds together as one design.
Realism — Black & Grey
Portraits · Animals · Photographic detail
Photographic imagery rendered in smooth black-and-grey shading. Every value is locked the moment the needle moves — no improvisation, only careful execution of a planned image. Colour realism also available.
Ornamental
Mandalas · Geometric · Mehndi-inspired patterning
Symmetry-driven decorative work — mandalas, geometric repetition, flowing pattern. The discipline where a single line out of place breaks the whole piece, so it's treated as drafting as much as tattooing.
Blackwork
Solid black · Negative space · Contemporary minimalism
Bold solid forms and sharp negative space, drawn from tribal foundations into contemporary minimalism. The discipline that ages best — black holds its definition long after colour begins to soften.
Fine Line
Script · Minimal · Delicate single-needle work
Delicate, precise linework — script, small symbols, minimal illustration. Often the choice for a first tattoo or a discreet placement. Requires a steady hand and careful aftercare to hold fine detail.
Maori-inspired
Koru · Manaia · Spiral logic · Tā moko-informed
Maori design principles — koru, manaia, spiral logic — adapted respectfully into custom pieces. Traditional tā moko remains sacred to Māori artists; Hung's work is informed by these principles, not a copy of them.

Service questions.
Do you do custom designs or only flash?
Every tattoo at Rae Ink is custom-designed from your brief. We don't work from flash sheets or copy existing tattoos — bring references and ideas, and Hung draws a piece specifically for you, your body, and your chosen placement.
Which tattoo style should I choose?
It depends on the look you want and the placement. Fine line suits subtle, small, or first tattoos; Japanese and realism suit larger statement pieces; ornamental works for decorative flowing designs; blackwork ages best for high-contrast graphic work. Unsure? Share your idea and we'll recommend the best fit at your consultation.
Do you tattoo cover-ups or fix old tattoos?
Cover-ups and reworks are assessed case by case — send a clear, well-lit photo of the existing tattoo via WhatsApp and Hung will tell you what's possible. Blackwork and Japanese styles are often the most effective for covering older work.
Is piercing available without an appointment?
Walk-in piercing is welcome during open hours (daily 10am–8pm), subject to artist availability. For specific placements or to guarantee a slot, message ahead via WhatsApp. Piercings start from 300,000 VND and include aftercare guidance.
How much do your services cost?
Fine line and mini tattoos start from 1,000,000 VND. Medium pieces run 5–15M VND, half sleeves 10–20M, full sleeves 30–50M, and Japanese bodysuits 60–150M VND. Piercing starts from 300,000 VND. See the full pricing page for detailed ranges, or send a brief for an exact quote.
Bring us your idea.
Whatever the style, it starts the same way — a brief, a conversation, a custom design. Send yours through and Hung will take it from there.
